Ambroz Recreation Center
The Ambroz
Recreation Center houses the Recreation Department offices and provides space
for youth sports, senior, and cultural arts programs and rentals.
The center is named for Otto Ambroz who served as chair of the Recreation Commission for many years and was part owner of the Ambroz Advertising Agency. It is the second recreation center to be named in his honor. In 1975 the building, formerly Buchanan School, was given to the Recreation Commission by the school district in exchange for the original Ambroz Center that was located at 4th Avenue and 14th Street SE. Recreation offices and programs were moved to the newly acquired building and it was renamed the Ambroz Center.
